Research Interests

Professor Huehn’s main interest in Marketing is the fragmentation of the customer base. Markets of one cannot be segmented which prevents companies from developing a meaningful strategy. Consequently he has proposed a new approach to segmentation and Strategic Marketing which he has cunningly termed self-segmentation. The customers choose their own segment and their personal value proposition. The effects on the organisational structure – the consumer get access to the value-creation process in the organisation – are largely unexplored and that is where his Marketing research interest become strategic.

Another field of interest is Ethical Marketing, especially Muslim Marketing. He shares this research interest with one of his teaching assistants, Mariam Abou Youssef.
