With the establishment of its Berlin branch in October 2012, according to article 124a of the Berlin Higher Education Act, the German University in Cairo (GUC) aims to create a partnership with GIU Berlin as a place for German-Egyptian encounter and a hub for international academic, scientific and cultural exchange. Students studying in Berlin Branch will be able to study in English. All courses taught at the Berlin branch are equivalent to the courses offered at the home university.
“There is no more important and no more rewarding investment than in the education of individuals who are willing to put their knowledge at the service of the community, to serve their country and the international community in which we are all involved.”
Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mansour
GUC Prime Founder and Chairman of Board of Trustees
All academic programs/courses at the Berlin branch are taught by renowned German and international professors and lecturers.
The European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) is used to create curricula with international compatibility to promote student mobility and ensure high quality and transparency of recognition procedures. Moreover, the offered Semester Exchange and Master programs are accredited by the Accreditation Certification and Quality Assurance Institute (ACQUIN). www.acquin.org
At the Berlin branch, students benefit from practice-oriented teaching and a strong emphasis on the unity of teaching and research (Alexander von Humboldt principle). Students are divided into small-sized classes, which ensure better interaction and understanding. Furthermore, students benefit from an intensive German language program, modern campus facilities and equipment, and a wide range of engaging extracurricular activities.
