Undergraduate Programs

General Management

The General Management program aims to educate for leadership; it offers a generalist and managerial degree instead of a narrow and functional one. Thus, our students will move effortlessly from one functional area to another and work smoothly with colleagues in all areas. It will enable students to develop a broad-based range of concepts and business skills (including soft skills) needed to effectively manage the functional areas of a company. The program fosters an understanding for the interdependencies of decisions made in the company and how value can be created by these decisions. Students graduate with two majors out of Accounting & Financial Control, Economics, Finance, Human Resources and Organizational Behavior, Information Systems, Innovation & Technology Management, International Business, Marketing, Production & Operations, and Strategic Management.

Degrees

The Faculty of Management Technology offers an Egyptian Bachelor program in Management. This program consists of 8 semesters which take 4 years to achieve a Bachelor of Science in Management.

On the postgraduate level the Faculty offers an international Master of Science in Management. The International Master program is at the present time only open to graduates of the GUC. Besides the already transferred credit hours of the second major from the eighth semester, Master students need an additional one year that provides them with advanced knowledge within special fields of Management or Economics. The program includes courses from a third major of the students choice plus advanced courses oriented to research in the student’s field of the master thesis. The thesis may be written in any of the student’s three majors. Based on a Master degree with excellent grades student may continue to pursue a PhD in Management or Economics.

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) integrates theory, research and business practices in order to equip Managers with state of the art approaches in Business Administration. It entails studying three majors (five courses each), or two majors for non-business graduates after completing a series of basic management courses. Every student has to prepare a thesis in order to deeply explore a management issue in which s/he integrates theory and practice. The Media-MBA entails 15 units in Business Administration as well as specific media-related courses, plus preparing a thesis.


Business Informatics

The Business Informatics program offers a balanced combination of the business and technology skills required by managers and team leaders in the modern world of computer-based business and administration. Information Technology (IT) is increasingly becoming a key pillar upon which most (if not all) of today’s organizations build their strategies and manage their operations everywhere across the globe. Hence, the demand for individuals who can master business managerial as well as the latest technical skills has never been more compelling. The business Informatics student at GUC acquires the capability to solve self dependently and based on scientific methods the problems arising in the field of Business Informatics (e.g. development and use of enterprise systems). The study program qualifies students in the main areas of system analysis & development, business process modeling, enterprise systems, e-business, information management and IT project management.

Technology-based Management

The Technology-based Management (TBM) program offers a balanced combination of the business and technology skills required by managers in modern industry. It provides students with the full content of the General Management program (except: only one management major required) as well as with the technical knowledge needed to understand and manage organizations that compete in the high-technology industries. TBM students develop knowledge and understanding of the foundation, techniques, limitations, recent developments and likely future trends in one of the chosen fields of information & communication technology, pharmacy, or material engineering. In these internationally and technology-focused programs we prepare our students for management responsibilities in large and medium-sized national and multinational companies that compete in global markets and high-tech industries.

Master students need an additional one year that provides them with advanced knowledge within special fields of Management or Economics. The program includes courses from an additional major of the student’s choice plus advanced courses oriented to research in the student’s field of the master thesis. The thesis must be written on a topic related to a selected technology field. Based on a Master degree with excellent grades student may continue to pursue a PhD in Management.
