The Africa Academy of Management (AFAM) Conference

The Africa Academy of Management (AFAM) is a professional group of academics and practitioners interested in management scholarship and teaching in Africa. The primary purpose of AFAM is the development and improvement of members’ capabilities for research and teaching of management in organizations in Africa. The secondary purpose is the promotion and advancement of management in Africa. AFAM also provides an outlet for scholarly work on management in African organizations through its journal; the Africa Journal of Management.

AFAM holds its conference in an African city every two years. The GUC was selected to host the 6th conference and its theme was management praxis through the lens of sustainability, responsibility, and ethics. The conference was organized around the following tracks:

∙            Entrepreneurship and Small Business

∙            Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management

∙            Public Policy, Administration and Non-Governmental Organizations

∙            Strategy and International Management

∙            Social Issues in Management

∙            Sustainability and Green Management

The conference was inaugurated by the university president, Prof. Dr. Eng. Yasser Hegazy. The conference came to be a major success, with more than 200 academic scholars attending from around the world.
